Interesting book. Alex Karp is really not the typical Silicon Valley founder — philosophy PhD, dyslexic, tai chi, hotels and cross-country skiing instead of a campus hoodie.
The ski bodyguards are the detail I still tell people — hired to keep up with him on snow and dig him out if needed. Absurd, very Karp. I also love his line about driving: he never learnt because he was too poor, and then he was too rich. Eight words that feel like a whole life.
Palantir's clients are spooks and militaries; the surveillance questions are real. I finished half fascinated, half uneasy, which seems about right.
